PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Vinblastine is a potent antineoplastic agent belonging to the vinca alkaloid class, derived from the Catharanthus roseus (Madagascar periwinkle) plant.

It works by inhibiting microtubule formation, arresting mitosis, and leading to cancer cell death. Vinblastine is widely used in combination chemotherapy regimens for a variety of hematological and solid malignancies.

The pre-filled syringe format offers enhanced dosing accuracy, sterility assurance, and reduced risk of occupational exposure.

To be administered under supervision of a qualified oncologist or day-care oncology units. (As per physician’s discretion or decision) Administered as part of chemotherapy regimens

Side Effects:

• COMMON:
  • Myelosuppression (particularly leukopenia)
  • Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, vomiting, constipation)
  • Hair loss (alopecia)
  • Injection site irritation
  • Malaise, fatigue
• SERIOUS (RARE):
  • Severe bone marrow suppression
  • Neurotoxicity (peripheral neuropathy)
  • SIADH (Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone Secretion)
  • Pulmonary toxicity (rare)
  • Fatal if administered intrathecally
• PRECAUTIONS:
  • NEVER administer intrathecally – always confirm venous access
  • Regular monitoring of blood counts is mandatory
  • Use with extreme caution in patients with hepatic impairment
  • Adequate hydration and prophylactic laxatives may be needed to manage constipation
  • Avoid contact with skin or mucous membranes—cytotoxic handling protocols must be followed
  • Contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation unless benefits outweigh risks
