PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Trimethoprim + Sulfamethoxazole Tablets are a synergistic combination of two antimicrobial agents that act by sequential inhibition of bacterial folate synthesis.

This dual-action mechanism makes the formulation highly effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Commonly used for urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, and gastrointestinal infections, the combination is also recommended for treatment and prophylaxis of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) in immunocompromised patients, including HIV-positive individuals.

Offered in pediatric, standard, and double-strength options to suit various therapeutic needs.

  • Trimethoprim 40 MG + Sulfamethoxazole 200 MG Tablets
  • Trimethoprim 80 MG + Sulfamethoxazole 400 MG Tablets
  • Trimethoprim 1600 MG + Sulfamethoxazole 800 MG Tablets
• Route of Administration: Oral (As per physician’s discretion or therapeutic indication)

Therapeutic Indications:

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
• Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
• Traveler’s diarrhea and shigellosis
• Otitis media in children
• Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) – treatment & prophylaxis
• Nocardiosis and other sensitive systemic infections

Side Effects:

• COMMON:
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Skin rash
  • Loss of appetite
• SERIOUS (RARE):
  • Stevens-Johnson Syndrome / Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis
  • Aplastic anemia or agranulocytosis
  • Renal impairment or hyperkalemia
  • Crystalluria (especially with inadequate hydration)
• PRECAUTIONS:
  • Not recommended in late pregnancy or for infants under 2 months
  • Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic dysfunction
  • Ensure adequate fluid intake during therapy
  • Monitor blood counts during prolonged use
  • Avoid concurrent use with methotrexate or warfarin unless strictly indicated
