PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Sultamicillin is a mutual prodrug of Ampicillin and Sulbactam, designed to deliver broad-spectrum antibacterial activity via oral administration.

Upon ingestion, Sultamicillin is hydrolyzed into its active components Ampicillin (a penicillin derivative) and Sulbactam (a β-lactamase inhibitor) in a 2:1 ratio.

This combination provides robust protection against β-lactamase-producing pathogens that would otherwise inactivate ampicillin alone.

With enhanced oral bioavailability, Sultamicillin Tablets are highly effective in treating a wide range of community- and hospital-acquired infections and serve as an oral alternative to injectable β-lactam antibiotics.

• Available Strengths:
  • Sultamicillin 375 MG Tablets (Equivalent to Ampicillin 220 mg + Sulbactam 147 mg)
  • Sultamicillin 750 MG Tablets (Equivalent to Ampicillin 440 mg + Sulbactam 294 mg)
• Route of Administration: Oral (As per physician’s discretion or therapeutic indication)

Side Effects:

• COMMON:
  • Gastrointestinal discomfort
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Headache
  • Mild skin rash
• SERIOUS (RARE):
  • Hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis
  • Hepatic dysfunction
  • Clostridioides difficile associated diarrhea
  • Blood disorders (e.g., eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia)
  • Seizures (especially in patients with renal impairment)
• PRECAUTIONS:
  • Contraindicated in individuals allergic to penicillins or cephalosporins
  • Monitor liver enzymes with prolonged use
  • Adjust dosage in patients with moderate-to-severe renal impairment
  • Use with caution during pregnancy and lactation
  • Complete the full course to prevent bacterial resistance
