PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

 

Dobutamine Injection is a potent synthetic catecholamine and direct-acting inotropic agent primarily used in acute heart failure and cardiogenic shock to improve cardiac output.

Its selective stimulation of β1-adrenergic receptors results in increased myocardial contractility and stroke volume with minimal chronotropic or vasodilatory effects.

It is especially beneficial in critical care and emergency settings where rapid hemodynamic support is essential. Dobutamine is often utilized during cardiac surgery, stress echocardiography, and for short-term treatment of patients with decompensated heart failure.

Formulation & Presentation:

  • Dosage Form: Sterile Injectable
  • Presentation: Clear Sterile Solution in Clear/Amber Glass Vial/ Ampoule (customizable as per market demand)
  • Available Strengths:
    • 50 MG/ ML
  • Route of Administration: Intravenous (IV) or Continuous Infusion as per clinical indication. To be used after appropriate reconstitution or as per clinical indication and recommendation. Reconstituted as per protocol for injection in country of use. To be administered under strict supervision of a qualified doctor or as per physician’s discretion or decision only.

  • ICU Sedation of intubated and ventilated patients
  • Procedural Sedation for diagnostic and minor surgical procedures
  • Perioperative adjunct for sedation and anxiolysis
  • Sedation during awake craniotomy, regional anesthesia procedures

Side Effects:

  • COMMON:
    • Tachycardia
    • Hypertension
    • Palpitations
    • Headache
    • Nausea
  • SERIOUS (RARE):
    • Arrhythmias (e.g., ventricular tachycardia)
    • Myocardial ischemia
    • Hypotension upon withdrawal
    • Dyspnea or bronchospasm in sensitive individuals
  • PRECAUTIONS:
    • Requires continuous cardiac and blood pressure monitoring
    • Use cautiously in patients with atrial fibrillation or history of myocardial infarction
    • Do not use in patients with idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (IHSS)
    • Taper infusion gradually to prevent rebound hypotension
